Commitment
"Janssen Cilag are manufacturers of medicines in the field of mental health and a major company globally. In supporting Reach 4 Dance they are investing to improve the quality of life for literally thousands of users, carers and staff. As we have developed the project local representatives of the company have worked with enthusiasm to ensure venues have a rewarding experience. People with mental health issues do not receive as much positive support as other patients group; and too often mental health services are seen as the Cinderella Services in healthcare.
"Janssen-Cilag, by supporting Reach 4 Dance, seek to challenge these negative impressions of mental health, showing that people with mental health needs can enjoy a whole range of pleasurable experiences, just like anybody else. In my work with this project, Janssen-Cilag have never once attempted to use an event to inappropriately promote any product. The educational grant supporting the project is given mainly to bring pleasure to a wide audience.
"Many sponsors will give a grant and show no interest, Sue Silk from Janssen Cilag has been a passionate supporter and promoter of this project since day one and assisted me enormously in getting Reach 4 Dance to work. Medicines do play an important part in supporting people with serious mental illness, but this project shows that other elements in the life of people with mental health needs are just as important and need to be nurtured."
